English Language Practice

Empire State Building, NYC

The language practice courses develop and expand the good foreign language competence that is required at the start of studies.

The intensive practical use of the English language is an important component of a degree in British and North American Studies at the University of Greifswald.

Language practice courses aim to:

  • improve reading and listening comprehension, speaking competence, presentation skills and writing, so that our graduates can use written and spoken English in a correct, suitable and sophisticated fashion at a C1+ level.
  • refine fundamental academic competencies such as the ability to deal with complex English texts of all kinds, critical thinking, academic writing competence, presentation techniques and abstraction competence, so that students can actively and effectively use the English language during their studies and later on in their professional careers.
