ECTS points for exchange students

ECTS points and requirements for exchange students who are studying at the Institute of British and North American Studies at the University of Greifswald and for local students who study abroad

Basic Principles:

  • Local students abroad who study in modularised study programmes (Bachelor, Master; Lehramt since 2012) can find the ECTS points and contents for modules in their study regulations (Prüfungs- und Studienordnung). Foreign exchange students in Greifswald can also be assessed in the modules of the local study programmes (Bachelor, Master; Lehramt since 2012).
  • Each semester, 15 ECTS points must be collected for the subject chosen within the ERASMUS exchange.
  • ECTS points and marks (grades) are separate entities.
  • No ECTS points are given for mere attendance (i.e. passive presence), i.e. there must be some form of written or oral assessment with a specific mark/grade, e.g. ECTS points can be given for lectures only if there is some form of test or examination (which the lecturer has to guarantee).

NB! For any other forms of class or assessment not mentioned: ECTS points should be allocated by analogy with this system. The category ‘Seminar’ corresponds to either Hauptseminaror Proseminar, depending on the length and level of the term paper
